Conference “Western Sahara facing security challenges in the region” – Friday, June 28, 2019, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Salle Lamartine – Immeuble Jacques Chaban-Delmas – 101 rue de l’Université, Paris
Chaired by: Mr Jean-Paul LECOQ, Member of Parliament, member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Study Group on Western Sahara.
The security challenge in the Sahara region is fundamental for Africa and Europe. A crossroads of human, economic and military exchanges, the Sahara is bordered by States that are trying to establish security in this area while blocking illegal flows across it. As a border with Morocco, with which it has been in conflict for more than 40 years, what role does the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic play in this area? How does it fit into safety management and security in the Sahara?
