Abstract:
United Nations Peace Operations may include in their mandate the possibility of monitoring the human rights situation. However, one of the notable exceptions is the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). Human rights have become one of the most relevant dimensions of the conflict in Western Sahara. Therefore, our aim is to analyse what role MINURSO can play in the observation of human rights in Western Sahara, and to make some proposals in this respect.
